PM Carney witnesses CCIP launch as Canada expands Indo-Pacific trade push

Prime Minister Mark Carney witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding establishing the Canadian Chambers of the Indo-Pacific (CCIP) during a virtual ceremony held yesterday.

The new CCIP network brings together 21 independent Canadian chambers and business associations across the Indo-Pacific, forming the first coordinated overseas platform for Canadian business organizations in the region.

The initiative spans markets from South Asia to ASEAN and East Asia, aiming to enhance collaboration and policy engagement.

CanCham Macao, one of the founding members, said the network will help strengthen cross-border cooperation and market access.

“Macau has always been a bridge, not a barrier. Joining CCIP allows us to amplify the voice of Canadian and international businesses in this region, while contributing Macao’s proven ability to turn dialogue into concrete, investable projects,” said Howard Stribbell, president of CanCham Macao.

Organizers said the platform is designed to help Canadian businesses navigate shifting global trade conditions and capture emerging opportunities in Asia.
