A local youngster has reportedly lost about MOP13,000 while attempting to play on an “Online Baccarat” platform, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said.

According to the PJ report, the victim saw an online gambling advertisement through a social media group and decided to join the platform.

To police, he explained that he had been asked to deposit a certain amount in cryptocurrency to play, but his transactions were restricted due to operational issues.

The victim then inquired in the social media group and received a private message from a group member claiming they could help him deposit the required cryptocurrency amount, which would have been approximately MOP4,583.

After transferring the money, he lost contact with the person who offered to help and returned to the same social media group to report the incident.

Another member again offered assistance and told him he could obtain the cryptocurrency at a discounted price. He transferred money again but once more lost contact and was blocked from the platform.

In total, he reported a loss of over MOP13,000. RM
