The hotel sector recorded an average room occupancy rate of 91.6% in January 2026, up 0.7 percentage points year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Five-star hotels performed strongly, reaching 95.9% occupancy, while lower-tier hotels saw slight declines. The number of hotel guests fell 1.7% year-on-year to 1.24 million, driven by a drop in mainland visitors. International guest arrivals rose 26.6%, supported by growth from several Asian markets. Meanwhile, inbound package tour visitors decreased 13.4%, reflecting a 25.2% decline in mainland package tourists.
