The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) plans to introduce self-service ID card collection machines in the first half of 2026, allowing residents to return documents belonging to deceased relatives or friends, as well as found items. The initial phase will be implemented at China Plaza and municipal service centers under the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), with further expansion planned. Since the launch of the third-generation smart identity card in late 2023, nearly 290 people have used the home visit service for document applications. The service charges a fee of MOP120 for residents with mobility issues or health conditions. Authorities described the demand for the service as stable.
